CORONA VIRUS UPDATE

CORONAVIRUS PANDEMIC

To safeguard the health and wellness of all during the Coronavirus pandemic, Matthews Healthcare Education is committed to upholding its public health responsibility to contain the spread of COVID-19 through the implementation of health and safety controls guidance from the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH), the Lake County Health Department (LCHD), Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and the Governor’s Restore Illinois Plan.

TRAINING CENTER CLOSURE

Until further notice, Matthews Healthcare Education training center will be formally closed to the public. Only a limited number of approved essential staff and learners may enter the training center and expected to follow all local and state safety guidelines.

All staff and learners expected to be in the premises shall perform self-monitoring for any symptoms related to COVID-19 such as fever, cough, and shortness of breath. If you experience any of these, you must stay at home, contact your healthcare provider, and ask for guidance. Leaners should inform your instructor of your situation and we will reschedule your class. All learners are encouraged to monitor for the latest updates on COVID-19 at CDC.Gov/CoronaVirus.

What Happens Upon Arriving at The Premise

  • All learners are expected to arrive wearing a facemask or face covering. The face-covering should fit snugly but comfortably against the side of the face covering the nose and mouth, be secured with ties or ear loops, include multiple layers of fabric, and allow for breathing without restriction.
  • Upon entry, apply hand sanitizer. Go forward to the front desk and an employee will then use the thermometer by scanning your forehead and record your name on the log. The thermometer will be cleaned with sanitizing wipes after every use.
  • Per the IDPH, the temperature is to be taken twice daily, if the learner is in the premise for 8 hours, then the temperature must be taken at least four hours apart.
  • All learners are expected to answer honestly to questions such as if the person experienced any fever, coughing or shortness of breath, if they traveled in the last 14 days and if did or had any contact with a person who is sick or is possibly sick with COVID-19.
  • When a learner is observed to have some signs of fever, coughing, shortness of breath or has a fever of 100.4 or more degrees Fahrenheit, he or she will not be allowed to enter further. The learner will be provided an informational sheet regarding COVID-19, what to do, who to contact and will be asked to leave the premises. The class will be rescheduled.
  • All learners must follow 6ft social distancing.
  • All learners must observe frequent and proper handwashing. Wash your hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds or you can use an alcohol-based sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol.
  • All learners should avoid touching their eyes, nose and mouth with unwashed hands.
  • Visitors when allowed to enter must also observe the General Procedures.
