This Program of Study transforms caregiving experience into a profession as a Certified Home Services Worker. It outlines client companionship, housekeeping, personal care, and assistance with day-to-day activities. Focus on the basic skills needed to be a caregiver which becomes a foundation of a caregiver’s knowledge and professional development. This Program of Study is a combination of a self-study, virtual classroom lecture and live learner-instructor discussion which overall meets and exceeds equivalency of 8 (eight) hour training as required by the Illinois Department of Public Health Administrative Code Part 245.

HSW 100: Introduction to Professional Caregiving

To gain the knowledge and skills necessary to provide effective care to any client or family members as a Professional Caregiver. Learners will achieve understanding of the importance of meeting the needs of their client(s) while helping them maintain a high quality of life.
